Ornament & Geometric Tattoos

Mandalas, sacred geometry and patterns drawn to follow the body rather than sit on it.

49 pieces from the Legian studio

This is the most architectural work we do. An ornamental piece is designed around your own anatomy, so the pattern follows the line of the muscle and the curve of the limb, and it looks deliberate from every angle rather than only from the front.

Dotwork builds its tone from thousands of individual points instead of solid shading, which gives a softer, almost textile quality that reads beautifully across a large area. Set against solid blackwork it produces a contrast you cannot get any other way.

The family is broad. Mandalas and sacred geometry, blackwork where large solid areas of black become the shape itself, and the Polynesian and Maori influenced pattern work that has been part of tattooing far longer than any of it.

Because the design is drawn to your body, this style benefits most from an in person consultation. The artist will want to see the area, mark it up, and build the pattern around what is actually there.
